March 11th: Launch of Vision Sports Ireland James Joyce Art and Essay Competition
This is a Legacy Event. The competition is for blind and visually impaired children in Ireland / Northern Ireland to write an essay or submit artwork on the subject of why blind and visually impaired people should play sport. The prizes will be awarded on Bloomsday, June 16th, by Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Katherine Zappone. The launch took place in the Atrium, Fingal County Council, Swords, at 2.30pm.

March 22nd: Training Day for Guides and Blind Golfers, Allen Park GC, Co. Antrim.
In association with RNIB Connect, Disability Sport NI and Sport N
I, Vision Sports Ireland arranged training and playing opportunities for guides and blind golfers. Seven new and experienced blind golfers enjoyed the indoor driving bays at Allen Park. Twelve sighted guides received orientation and training on partnering blind or visually impaired people, both indoors and outdoors. The newly trained sighted guides played nine holes of golf with the experienced golfers. We were delighted to liaise with the Confederation of Golf at this event.

April 5th: Golf fundraiser and Awareness Day in Thurles GC.
In association with the Darragh and Fiona Classic fundraising team. This was an 18 hole scramble. We are grateful to GerryMcCormack, Laura Ryand and Aisling Moroney for organising this fabulous day. Over thirty teams turned out, and the standard of golf was high. The main prize was won by the Clohessy family, with a nett score of 16 under par. There was a blindfold putting competition for all participants. In true Irish style, there was “caint agus ceol”, chat and usic, in the clubhouse well into the evening.
April 6th: Cork Sportability Day
In association with Cork Local Sports Partnership and the COPE Foundation
This is not an official Vision Cup event, but we want to promote the inclusion of blind and visually impaired golfers. This is being run by the same team that organised the pilot Golf for All in Maon last summer.
April 26th: Golf Fundraiser and Children’s Fun Day at Killymoon GC, Co. Tyrone
Organised in association with RNIB and Sport NI. This will take the form of an 18 hole golf competition, open to GUI members, and blind golfers.
May 10th: Golf Fundraiser, Galway Bay GC
A Vision Cup fundraiser in association with Rosabel’s Rooms. This is a team event.
A fantastic day at our Rosabels Rooms/ Vision Cup challenge at Galway Bay golf club. The weather was fabulous and the golf course was immaculate. Many thanks to Aoi
fe Kenny and Rob Jr Monroe for being outstanding hosts. A great day of golf and fun had by all.
June 14th: Golf Fundraiser in Ballybunion GC
A Vision Cup fundraiser, in association with US Blind Golf Association.
June 16th: Opening Ceremony of the ISPS Handa Vision Cup
VSI JJ Art and Essay Awards. Katherine Zappone, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs will be the guest of honour. Other invitees will include representatives of the embassies of competing countries. The relevance of James Joyce in the title is that he suffered from sight loss throughout his life.
June 17th. Golf Fundraiser Portmarnock Links GC
ISPS Handa Ambassador, keen golfer and former Taoiseach, Enda Kenny will be in attendance.
This is a Vision Cup fundraiser, and will incorporate the members of Portmarnock Links, as they welcome the players in the Vision Cup to North County Dublin.
There will be an auction held at the post event bar b q, to auction items including special edition prints donated by artists Eamon Colman, Deepa Mann Kler and JimFitzpatrick.
June 19th: Kinsealy Driving Range Golf Inclusion
The driving range has been booked between 9am and 11am
The golfers participating in the Vision Cup will be in attendance to inspire and work with children and youth interested in playing all abilities golf
June 20th: Closing Ceremony and Prize Giving
Presentation of the Vision Cup to the winning team.
