In 2011, Mario competed in the B1 division for the first time, winning the American Blind Golf National Championship and the Ohio McCulloch Match Play Tournament and finishing second in the USBGA National Championship and the Guiding Eye Classic. Other accomplishments include four first place finishes in the American Blind Golf National Championship, two USBGA National Championships, three Guiding Eye National Championship and two, fourth place finishes in the 2016 and 2018 World championship.

Something interesting about Mario is that in January of 2013, Mario received the Most Courageous Athlete award given by the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association. This award is given to an individual who has overcome some hardship to excel in his given sport. Other past winners of the MCA were Ben Hogan and Tommy John.
