Gerry Nelson and Chris Villeneauve (Canada, B1)
Gerry comes from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and was born in the 1960s. His aid is his friend Chris Villeneauve.
Gerry Nelson and chris Villeneuve grew up together in their home town of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada and became best buddies when Gerry lost his eye sight at age 25. This followed many years living with Diabetes first diagnosed at age 6. Gerry is the current Western Canadian Blind Golf Champion
As well as the current Canadian Open Blind Golf champion, an event he has won four times. Gerry placed third at the 2012 World Blind Golf Championships
held in Truro, Nova Scotia. In 2004, in Saskatoon,
Gerry shot a score of 85 over eighteen holes, his lowest score shot to date as a totally blind golfer.
Something interesting about Gerry is that he has played golf with Lee Trevino and Ken Venturi. He also organized, hosted and subsequently won the inaugural 1997 Canadian Open Blind and Visually-Impaired Golf Championships. a tournament which is still part of the IBGA schedule today.
He is the Vice – president of the Western Canadian Blind Golf Association. He helped to start and is the President of Blind Golf Canada, the national Association for all blind and partially-sighted golfers.
