Barry McCluskey and Gerry Green (Scotland, B3)
Barry comes from Lanarkshire, Scotland and was born in 1982. His aid is family friend, Gerry green.
Barry, who has been playing golf since he was a teenager, has only recently joined Scottish Blind Golf, and is proving to be a top class performer. Sport is in the family, his Dad having played professional football. It’s just a matter of time, before this affable young man gets a few Blind Golf wins under his belt.
Something interesting about Barry, he tells us, is that “I am a father of one wee boy called Ruari and I love nothing more than spending time with him on the golf course or going to the football”. Barry is proud of his Dad, Celtic, Leeds and Hibernian legend George McCluskey. Barry is an outstanding golfer in his own right, having risen to the top stream of Blind Golf in less than one year. he provided an insight in an interview he gave to the Evening Times last year, saying “I do get frustrated because I know I can play better. But I am starting to come to terms with the fact I won’t be as good because of my sight”. He tells us that “I would love to get more people involved in the sport” of Blind Golf.
